El 11 de marzo de 2011 hubo un gran terremoto y el tsunami en el este de Japón. La magnitud del sismo fue clasificado en 9.0 y fue seguido por muchas fuertes réplicas. Debido a esto y tras el tsunami, se produjo una gran cantidad de daños a las áreas cercanas al epicentro. Este incidente fue transmitido a todo el mundo, y hemos recibido muchos mensajes de los distintos bloques y los directores de países, así como muchos otros miembros de IKGA. Estamos muy agradecidos por sus preocupaciones, las amables palabras y apoyo brindado.
Ha habido muchos equipos de rescate de varios países que han traído suministros. Por esto también estamos muy agradecidos, por el apoyo y ayuda en estos tiempos difíciles.
A pesar de que fueron afectadas por el terremoto en Tokio y recibió algunos daños, por favor estén seguros de que el Hombu Dojo está en buen estado y estamos sanos y salvos. Sin embargo, no ha habido daños a algunos de los dojos, miembros, familias y amigos de JKGA. Debido a la magnitud de este incidente, se ha convertido no sólo un problema para una o dos áreas, sino que para todo Japón.
Además, debido a la pérdida de varias centrales nucleares, Japón está experimentando una escasez de energía, por lo que el gobierno está llevando a cabo apagones en este de Japón. Esto hará que sea muy difícil para las comunicaciones rápidas entre el Hombu y el resto de la IKGA debido al impacto en las computadoras y los teléfonos que esto tendrá. A pesar de esto, vamos a tratar de seguir funcionando y manejar nuestras responsabilidades como la sede de IKGA, sin embargo, por favor tengan paciencia con nosotros si hay retrasos en las respuestas, y entiendan que estamos haciendo nuestro mejor esfuerzo para hacer frente a la situación actual.

To I.K.G.A. Block and Country Directors
On March 11, 2011, there was a large earthquake and tsunami in Eastern Japan. The magnitude of the earthquake was rated at 9.0 and was followed by many strong aftershocks. Due to this and the following tsunami, there was a large amount of damage to the areas near the epicenter. Since this incident was broadcast all over the world, we recieved many messages from the various Block and Country directors, as well as many other I.K.G.A. members. We are grateful for your concerns, kind words, and support.
There have been many rescue parties from various countries who have brought supplies from their respective countries. We are very grateful for their support and help through these difficult times.
Although we were hit by the earthquake here in Tokyo and received some damage, please rest assured that the hombu dojo is undamaged and we are unharmed. However, there has been damage to some of the dojos, members, families, and friends of J.K.G.A. Due to the scale of this incident, it has become not just a problem for one or two areas, but a problem for the whole of Japan.
Also, due to the loss of several nuclear power plants, Japan is experiencing a power shortage, so the government is currently implementing rolling blackouts across Eastern Japan. This will make it very difficult for speedy communications between the hombu and the rest of the I.K.G.A. due to the impact on computers and telephones this will have. Despite this, we will try to continue to operate and handle our responsibilities as the headquarters for I.K.G.A., however, please bear with us if there are delays in responses and understand that we are doing our best to deal with the current situation.
